Ayşe, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. 　　However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. 　　Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble. 　　在报馆任职的骠叔（董骠 饰）因为工作的关系带着全家到加拿大工作。一家五口都全身心投入新环境新生活中，骠叔却因得罪上司被解雇了。由于大女儿、二女儿（李丽珍 饰）已开始了学业，他唯有带着妻子骠婶（沈殿霞 饰）与最小的女儿回到香港继续生活，生活却比以前更艰难了。骠婶无意中发现了一张加拿大的头奖彩票，奖金是两千万加币。　　由于不够钱到加国，骠叔硬着头皮向旧上司借。同样受到经济危机的上司设法要夺取骠叔的彩票。骠叔一家顽强对抗，保住了彩票，却无法在领奖时限截止前赶到。　　一家人伤心流泪，悲伤之中发现时间上出现了时差，领奖的时间还没截止。
